Avid diver and PADI Master Instructor (MI) based in Hawaii and California
I got open water certified at the age of 12, and I have been hooked ever since. After years of active diving I started to pursue professional diving ratings, eventually becoming a PADI Master Instructor after teaching full time for over 8 years and introducing over 400 students to the joys of diving. I continued to follow my passion for the marine environment by completing my Bachelors and Masters in Biology at Arizona State University. I currently work as a Senior Scientific Diver, Dive Safety Officer, and Planner for a large engineering firm focusing on Dept. of War projects.
Daniel focuses on developing conservation strategies for a verity of ecosystems/environments. These plans focus on implementing citizen scientist with genetic tools to accelerate action in protecting sensitive ecosystems. He is the co-founder of The Marine Genome Project, and nonprofit organization focused on increasing accessibility and the use of marine genetics for protecting our blue planet.

Daniel has spent nearly 10 years conducting research around focusing on biodiversity and new species discovery. Additionally, he leads marine bio teams on hundreds of millions of dollars worth of environmental projects around the world.
He has led a group of researchers to explore underwater caves in Sardinia, Italy for the past 3 years. These expeditions have led to the discovery of multiple new species, and increased the knowledge of how eDNA can be used in extreme environments.
